Taking a Break from the News for Awhile…

November 27, 2008 by Common Sense Cowboy

I am taking a break from the news for awhile. Kinda makes it tough to blog about the world and politics when you close the door to the rest of the world. – Really it’s a cross between an experiment about my world view and a vacation from the world for a little while to focus on my family and my walk with Christ.

Be sure to check back from time to time as I plan to write about my experiences as a “lone cowboy”…

Make Someone Happy

November 20, 2008 by Common Sense Cowboy

Barrack Obama, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey were flying on Obama’s private plane.

Obama looked at Oprah, chuckled and said, “You know, I  could throw a $1,000 bill out of the window right now and make somebody very happy.”

Oprah shrugged her shoulders and replied, “I could throw ten $100 bills out of the window and make ten people  very happy.”

Michelle added, “‘That being the case, I could throw one hundred $10 bills out of the window and make a  hundred people very happy.”

Hearing their exchange, the pilot rolled his eyes and said to his co-pilot, “Such big-shots back there.  Heck, I  could throw all of their butts out of the window and make 56 million people very happy.”

November 17, 2008 by Common Sense Cowboy

Spam Takes It in the Pants

November 13, 2008 by Common Sense Cowboy

Ha, Ha

Browsing the news this morning…

“The volume of junk e-mail sent worldwide dropped drastically today after a Web hosting firm identified by the computer security community as a major host of organizations allegedy engaged in spam activity was taken offline, according to security firms that monitor spam distribution online.”

“E-mail security firm IronPort said spam levels fell by roughly 66 percent as of Tuesday evening. Another spam watch dog, found a similar decline, from about 40 spam e-mails per second to around 10 per second.”            [MSNBC]

I like to see the bad guys “eat it” whenever I can.

You are victim either way

Even if you have never responded to any of their schemes and have the best filter in the world, you are still a victim of the Spammers! ISPs have to increase their capacity to handle the additional load that Spam creates to keep the Internet running smooth. The cost of investing into all of this extra equipment and manpower gets passed along to you, the consumer. – Think of it this way, Spam is the low air pressure in all of your vehicle’s tires; the car still runs great, but you are using more energy to keep the car as 65 MPH. It costs you more money in gas, just as it does when it comes time to pay that monthly Internet bill.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a great day!

Jesus on the Computer

November 12, 2008 by Common Sense Cowboy

My boss was walking by my desk as he notices my frustration at the fact that I lost a document due to a “computer hiccup”. This prompted him to tell me a joke:

Jesus and Satan were having an ongoing argument about who managed to get the most out of his computer.  This had been going on for days and God said, “Cool it. I am going to set up a test that will run two hours and I will judge who does the better job.”

So down they sat at the keyboards and typed away.  They moused away. They did spreadsheets, they wrote reports, they sent faxes, they sent out e-mail, they sent out e-mail with attachments,  they downloaded, they did some genealogy reports, they made cards, they did every known job.

But just a few minutes before the two hours were up, a lightning bolt flashed across the sky. The thunder rolled and the rains came down hard.  And of course the electricity went off.

Satan was furious. He fumed and fussed and he ranted and raved. All to no avail. The electricity stayed off.

But after a bit, the rains stopped and the electricity came back  on.

Satan screamed, “I lost it all when the power went off! What am I going to do? What happened to Jesus’ work?”

Jesus just sat and smiled.

Again Satan asked about the work that Jesus had done.

As Jesus turned his computer back on, the screen glowed and when he pushed “print,” it was all there.

“How did he do it?” Satan asked.

God smiled and said, “Jesus Saves.”

A Conservative Blogger’s Pledge

Despite the fact that Barack Obama’s political ideology is in sharp contrast to mine own, I will support president-elect and soon to be President Barack Obama. I will, in good faith, accept the apparent fact this man wants to make the United States of America a better place. I promise to hold true to my conservative and Christian values and I will voice my concern and provide alternatives when necessary. I promise to pray for Barack Obama, our government and most of all, the United States of America and her allies.

Why Not Obama?

Reasons Why Obama is Not Good for the United States

I don’t really have to say much here; Barry’s already said it…

“I chose my friends carefully; the more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists.” ['Dreams From My Father', Barack Hussein Obama]

Asked at what point a baby gets “human rights,” Obama, who strongly supports abortion rights, said: “… whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity … is above my pay grade.” [Reuters]

“My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off if you’re gonna be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” [ABCNews]
“So it’s not surprising then that they (Small Town Voters) get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations. [Audio]

“I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of twelve or thirteen, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.” [News-Leader]

Barrack Obama Believes There Are Many Paths to Heaven. (He can’t be a true Christian!) [CADC Video]

“What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.  So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them.” [YouTube]
